This project explores climate change through a series of experimental fashion magazine front covers. Using the recognisable format of Vogue, the work challenges the polished perfection typically associated with fashion media by introducing disruption directly onto the image.
Through processes such as cutting, drawing and layering, the covers are physically interfered with to reflect the effects of pollution and environmental damage. The act of “polluting” the image becomes a visual metaphor for climate change, where something once controlled and idealised is altered and destabilised.
Printed using Risograph, the series maintains a cohesive aesthetic while embracing texture, misalignment and imperfection. The outcome questions the role of fashion imagery in contemporary culture, transforming the magazine cover from a site of aspiration into a space for critique and reflection.
